“Hi there! My name is Sanda Thura and I am a graduate of James Madison University in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Originally from Myanmar (Burma), I studied computer science with a minor in Honor Interdisciplinary studies and graduated with honors distinctions. I am proud to have been awarded the Grace Murray Hopper award for my contributions to the field of computer science. My research interests include machine learning and artificial intelligence. I have completed research projects using machine learning to diagnose coronary heart diseases on wearable devices, modeling and analyzing Sars-Cov-2 proteins using computational biology. I have interned as a data scientist and visualization specialist at Merck and Co., and have also served as a Computer Science Lead Teaching Assistant, Computer Science Ambassador, and International Ambassador (Linker).
